Polls, pundits, and parliamentary systems

I spent part of this past weekend engaged in some really fun discussions. Between dinner on Friday night (with discussions of the Knesset, the Canadian parliament, and the concept of IRV) and lunch on Sunday (with discussions of polling data, bounces, and expected swings of undecided voters) I had a great time. You know, it really is fun when you get to use the stuff you're learning in classes in everyday conversations and you actually have some idea of what you're talking about. :)

Now if only I had enough time to write to all the friends of mine that I owe letters to. <waves to a certain Californian>.

I'm becoming a poll junkie.

Now, with less than a month until the election, I'm discovering just how hooked on polls I can get. I thought I was bad when in April I was checking Electoral-Vote.com on a weekly basis. Now I found (by way of another online community I'm in) this site and I'm even more pleased. I've been checking it almost daily. I mean, this guy even documents (thoroughly documented!) his methodology!

I am still alive.

Just been diverting most of my energy to work and rebuilding/running these guys. If you told me 2 years ago that I'd be directing a church group, I'd think you were nuts. It's not that I've suddenly found god or anything (Hey! Look! She's behind the sofa!), I just seem to be drawn to groups that need a little reorganization. And hey, even if I do have my doubts about divinity, there's still some good philosophy that JC taught. You know the whole thing about loving your neighbour? It's still a good idea (that's why it's a part of so many cultures). It's just a shame we're not better at it.
